The Handeli First-Year Student Scholarship

FROM HILLEL INTERNATIONAL 

In support of Hillel’s mission to enrich the lives of Jewish students so that they may enrich the Jewish people and the world, Hillel International is pleased to offer four different scholarship opportunities to Jewish students for the 2023-24 academic year.

The Handeli First-Year Student Scholarship is awarded annually to two graduating high school seniors preparing to seek a bachelor's degree at an accredited college or university in the United States or Canada. Applicants must demonstrate a record of leadership and/or volunteer service in any aspect of their local community, and must also self-identify as Jewish.

 

Award Amount: $3,000

 

Renewable for up to three additional school years, in addition to the first year. Not renewable after the fourth school year/payment, or the student’s completion of an undergraduate degree, whichever comes first.

 

Eligible: current high school seniors or gap-year students

Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 (unweighted, out of 4.0) or 3.5 (weighted, out of 5.0) at the time the application is submitted in order to be eligible.

Please provide the names and at least one form of contact information of two references who can speak to your leadership, hard work, and dedication both in the classroom and the community. 

Examples of references can include teachers, professors, advisors, coaches, volunteer leaders, internship supervisors, or other mentors. Please do not include friends, parents, or other relatives.

Please note: references do not need to submit a letter of recommendation. References will only be contacted if the applicant is selected as a finalist.
